Calling all nerds! Come name Sun King Brewery’s official beer of Gen Con

March 11, 2015Jason Morgan

Not going to lie: A majority of the Craft Brewing Business crew knows what a saving throw is, we’re still giddy rolling crits and GM Jason has yet to get his first CBB TPK. Today’s nerds are a creative bunch, and we’re willing to bet there are a few like-minded brewers out there. In fact, we know there are! (I just rolled an 18 Int.) Take Sun King Brewery, for example, the brewer of Gen Con’s official beer — a beer you can help name.

GenCon Official Beer Sun King Brewery
Don’t count on CBB’s Sean Wright’s stealth roll, but do count on Sun King crafting an excellent gaming ale.

For those zero charismas out there, Gen Con is the largest table-top gaming event in the country, and it promotes gaming and related activities via a thriving product showcase, allowing game manufacturers and publishers to sell and market games directly to consumers. Currently, the fourth annual naming contest for the beer is underway. Last year’s winning name was the most excellent “Froth of Khan.” Check out how Sun King describes this year’s grog:

“Adventure awaits you in every pint of Sun King’s GOLDEN ALE! Discover surprising depths of lusciousness and an empire of astounding flavor. Fulfill your destiny… Tonight you drink in the royal court of Sun King!”

Fill out the beer naming survey to submit your name and then sound off in the comments below to share your geeky gaming goodness. Gruumsh’s Grog? Drinkin’ and Dragons? Let’s see what you got.
