Baderbräu, ‘Chicago’s original craft beer,’ is actually custom brewed in Wis. (for now)

April 12, 2013Keith Gribbins

Baderbräu Chicago Pilsener, dubbed as “Chicago’s Original Craft Beer,” reemerged on the shelves at Binney’s Beverage Depots all around greater Chicago in early April. We think that’s pretty cool, but we should probably point out that this Chicago craft beer is actually being brewed in Stevens Point, Wis., at Stevens Point Brewery. Baderbräu Brewing Co. used to custom brew with Argus Brewing Co. in Pullman, Ill., but apparently Stevens Point has been on the company’s want list for quite a while. Co-founder Rob Sama explains the move in the video above, as well as on his brewery blog.

And I know what you’re thinking, when does Baderbräu get brewed in Chicago again? Well, we’re working overtime on opening a brewery right in the city limits of Chicago. Your jaw is going to drop when you see what we’re planning, so stay tuned, and keep supporting us. We’re excited to bring new beers to market under the Baderbräu name, and in our own brewery. So stay in touch and we’ll keep you in the loop. You can sign up for our mailing list here, or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. We’re looking forward to a great summer drinking “America’s Best Pilsener,” and we hope you are too.

We’d sign up for that newsletter, but there was no link. Rats! Regardless, we’ll let you know when Baderbräu starts brewing in Chicago again.
