Ball Corporation and the CAN’d Aid Foundation are growing their partnership to provide clean drinking water to U.S. communities in the wake of disasters. Ball is donating 1 million aluminum cans to the CAN’d Aid Foundation, which will be filled at Oskar Blues Brewery facilities and distributed to communities in need.

To date, Ball, the CAN’d Aid Foundation and Oskar Blues Brewery have collaborated to package and distribute 483,200 cans of clean water to victims of flooding and other disasters, including the Flint, Mich., water crisis.

“At the end of 2015, a flood devastated much of South Carolina, and we were able to quickly and efficiently can and distribute water by partnering with Oskar Blues Brewery North Carolina to fill cans donated by Ball Corporation. We realized we were in a unique position to be able to help in the wake of disasters, and we jumped at the opportunity,” says Diana Ralston of CAN’d Aid. “Now, with Ball’s increased support of one million cans, we’re eager to reach this ambitious goal to help as many people as we can.”

Would a Trump aluminum tax make cans more expensive? Will it also make you buy American?

The expanded and improved relief effort will include a focus on faster deliveries to areas that most need safe drinking water.

“While disasters aren’t predictable, Ball Corporation and CAN’d Aid Foundation aim to provide canned water as quickly as possible,” Ralston added.

Canned water is an ideal option for helping people affected by disasters because aluminum beverage cans are transport-efficient, durable and infinitely recyclable. The canned water will benefit communities across the United States in response to crises like floods, hurricanes, fires and more.

“Ball is excited to expand our partnership with the CAN’d Aid Foundation and Oskar Blues Brewery to provide relief to communities when they are most vulnerable,” says Chris Chavez, director of global corporate citizenship and corporate relations at Ball. “By working together, and by outlining our commitment in advance of a disaster, we will be able to get clean drinking water to more people, more quickly.
