California Brewers Association to offer brewery employee health care benefits program

September 12, 2016Chris Crowell

California Craft Brewers AssociationRunning a small business offers its own unique headaches, one of those being providing quality health insurance for employees, which is what makes the following deal so great. Hub International Limited, a leading global insurance brokerage, risk advisory and employee benefits firm, is partnering with the California Craft Brewers Association (CCBA) to deliver an exclusive and comprehensive Employee Benefits Trust for CCBA member breweries.

“This is a very exciting opportunity for California craft breweries. As a CCBA Trust member, breweries can take advantage of group purchasing power and gain access to a suite of value-added services tailored for small to mid-size breweries,” said Bo Lebherz, Craft Beer Practice Leader, Hub International.

CCBA leadership told CBB that they expect the state’s smallest breweries to benefit the most from this plan because they can access the discount and group rates of a larger company.
The Comprehensive benefits package can include medical, dental, voluntary, vision, life and disability as well as streamlined administration and automated PPACA compliance assistance. HR services are also included to answer complex questions and provide legal guidance, alerts, training and resources.

This trust is only available for CCBA members. To sign up for the plan, you must be a brewery member with the CCBA and then work with HUB International to facilitate the program and set up your specific plan based on your employee number and demographics.

“We are extremely excited to launch this health care benefits program for our brewery members so they can provide affordable and comprehensive health care to their employees,” said Tom McCormick, CCBA’s executive director. “Craft breweries directly employ over 15,000 people in the state, and this benefits program will help our members maintain a competitive advantage while taking good care of their employees.”

The program will be facilitated by Hub International’s Employee Benefit and Trust Consultants, Peter Duncan and Bo Lebherz, and will be fully operational by October 1, 2016.
