Details on the new Karl Strauss small batch brewing facility

This new nimble, small batch brewery from Karl Strauss is going to be awesome.

Karl Strauss Brewing Co. will open a new satellite brewery and brewpub in Anaheim next month. Directly across the street from Angel Stadium, this new location expands the brewery’s small batch brewing capability. Equipped with a 7-bbl brewhouse, two fermentation tanks (14-bbls in size) and three brite tanks (14-bbls), this 11,885-sq-ft brewery has the potential to produce more than 35 unique releases of fresh, small batch beer brewed on site.

The Anaheim satellite brewery increases the company’s brewing infrastructure to 10 brewery locations in southern California, including their main production brewery in Pacific Beach.

“We’re excited to expand our small batch program. We give our brewers the freedom to experiment on our satellite systems, and it’s proven very helpful in landing our next big release, like Aurora Hoppyalis or Mosaic Session IPA,” said Matt Johnson, Brewmaster, Karl Strauss Brewing Co.

The brewpub layout features a tasting room-like bar area with 24 taps for guests to enjoy an ever-changing list of rotating beers. Behind the bar are “beer to go” coolers enabling guests to grab cold, fresh six-packs and 22-oz bombers in addition to growler fills. Next to the brewery is a growler filling station to accommodate high demand for fresh, draft beer on game days. With reclaimed wood and exposed brick, the space has an industrial feel that includes garage doors which open to a large outdoor patio overlooking Angel Stadium.

“We’re looking forward to introducing our beers to more Anaheim residents. This location is the perfect setting for socializing with friends over a freshly brewed, locally made craft beer from an independent brewery,” said Matt Rattner, president and co-founder of Karl Strauss Brewing.

Still under construction, the location will open its doors to the public on August 22.
