Attorneys Robert F. and Marbet Lewis have joined with noted litigator and white-collar criminal defense lawyer Alexander F. Fox to create a law firm that marries full service with individual attention to alcohol beverage and other regulated industry clients throughout Florida.

The three partners in LewisFox have worked together on legal matters related to alcohol beverage industry law since 2003. They created LewisFox based on the synergy between their practices and years of collaboration. The attorneys bring to the law firm three experienced former alcohol regulators as government consultants who, with five paralegals, assist clients in regulatory matters such as licensing, government relations, business permitting, alcohol trade practice analysis and compliance.

“We’ve learned from clients that it’s the individual quality of legal counsel and individual attention that matters most,” said Robert F. Lewis. “Together, we can fully service industry clients with a small-batch law model that focuses on personal service and flexibility.”

Robert and Marbet Lewis are known for their alcohol beverage law practices at larger law firms based in Florida. Most recently, they brought their team to Greenspoon Marder in 2015 to help open the firm’s Miami office. They are among the top-rated attorneys in the alcohol beverage industry, according to Chambers and Partners and various publications that have recently sought them out for comment on high profile alcohol industry acquisitions and trends.

Fox has represented high-profile clients including large auto dealers, corporations, corporate executives of hedge funds and nightclub and bar owners and has strong ties to community and local political groups.

“Government relations go hand in hand with licensing approvals for any regulated product, so a shared practice that leverages our legal knowledge benefits our clients,” said Fox, who had operated a solo practice since 2001. “Aside from initial legal representation, our goal is to educate our clients on highly regulated areas and effectively guide their ongoing compliance efforts.”

Marbet Lewis advises suppliers, hospitality, restaurant, entertainment and alcohol industry clients on regulatory licensing, asset purchases, mergers and acquisitions and regulatory compliance. She has extensive experience with lobbying efforts, licensing matters, enforcement action defense, alcohol related land use and zoning, and administrative litigation.

Robert F. Lewis has spent more than 26 years in the alcohol industry, including serving in law enforcement and as a special agent with the State of Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco. He continues to counsel foreign and domestic clients at all tiers of the alcohol beverage industry on regulatory guidance, government relations, M&A and licensing and permitting matters.
