Guess who the keynote speakers will be at the New England Craft Brew Summit (for real, guess)

February 9, 2017Chris Crowell

Did you guess Bart Watson? Of course you did. Watson, chief economist at the Brewers Association, seems to speak at every craft beer event there is. They are making up new events just so he can speak at them. We are convinced the BA is using the Doink strategy and now employing multiple Watsons.

And we hope that’s the case because Watson’s talks are always enlightening and filled with great insight. You will get a new interesting takeaway every time. So, if you miss the New England Craft Beer Summit (and you shouldn’t), you will likely see a Watson, or one of his clones, some place else bursting all sorts of bubble talk.

But wait, there is more

So, Watson is just one speaker. We bet you didn’t guess the other. That would be Katie Marisic, federal affairs manager of the BA, who will deliver a keynote address focused on growth in the brewing industry at the second annual.

Marisic is the Brewers Association’s presence on Capitol Hill to plan legislative, regulatory and political strategies to support the brewing industry. She is currently involved in the Craft Beverage Modernization & Tax Reform Act, as well as promoting USDA research on hops production. We have no wrestling gimmicks to compare her to (IRS?), but she’s also going to give a ton of great insight.

“Whether a brewer is choosing to remain small and cater to a local customer base, or ship their beer to a distant market, they will benefit from the national perspective that these speakers will bring,” said Sean Sullivan, executive director of the Maine Brewers’ Guild.

Watson and Marisic will be joined at the full-day conference by several nationally recognized speakers, including Ginger Johnson of Women Enjoying Beer, Laura Lodge, author of Distribution Insight for the Craft Brewer, and Matt Stinchfield, safety ambassador at the Brewers Association.

Hosted by the Maine Brewers Guild, the New England Craft Brew Summit is a gathering for brewers, brewery owners and all those who currently work with brewers around the country. This premier B2B event will feature live talks and panel discussions from brewers and owners blended with practical advice from professional service providers on a wide range of topics currently impacting the craft beer industry. (Just kidding. That’s another wrestling link, register here.)
