Oculyze has a Microscope Camera Upgrade Kit for quick and easy yeast cell counting

February 21, 2020Pretty Much a Press Release

Launched at the Braubeviale 2016, the Oculyze yeast cell counter has convinced yeast labs and breweries of all sizes in over 39 countries. Oculyze uses a cloud-based system to automate expert image analysis. They combine methodical pattern recognition with artificial intelligence and deep learning to offer quantitative real-time image analysis.

The Oculyze microscope upgrade kit

Starting at under $300, the Oculyze Microscope Camera Upgrade Kit allows you to retrofit your existing laboratory microscope with an automatic counting functionality. It consists of an external eyepiece camera, compatible android device, Better Brewing (BB 2.0) app and cloud based image recognition algorithms.

The idea here is to provide the same accuracy as an expert operator counting with a hemocytomer/ Thoma counting chamber. Faster than manual counting due to automated documentation, measurement and analysis.

FYI: Oculyze automates the counting of yeast cells, but the user is still responsible for properly loading the hemocytomer/ Thoma counting chamber. If this is a challenge we recommend the Oculyze BB 2.0 microscope available on the webshop.
