Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has a newe look

February 7, 2023Pretty Much a Press Release

OMB new logo

The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery (OMB), Charlotte, NC’s oldest operating craft brewery, has unveiled a fresh new look for its brand logo and packaged products. The new design will be instantly recognizable to OMB’s existing customer base while better capturing the spirit and stories behind its beers, which have been Charlotte staples for nearly 14 years.

“OMB is fortunate to have a well-balanced core portfolio anchored by three highly drinkable beers,” said John Marrino, OMB’s founder. “This new imagery will tell the story of each product more effectively while remaining true to OMB’s core values and brand promise.”

Founded in 2009 in Charlotte, NC, The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery uses only four all-natural ingredients (water, malt, hops and yeast) in its beers, adhering to the world’s oldest food quality regulation, the German “Reinheitsgebot.”

“The inspiration for our beer styles and product names can be traced back to two things; German brewing traditions and a respect for the Carolinas’ rich history,” Marrino added. “Our customers expect (and our original logo has become synonymous with) high quality, fresh, approachable beer. With this new look we’ve maintained the core feel of our original logo while giving it a simple, more elegant, refined look. We’ve also dramatically expanded each beer’s visual product identity through the individual package designs.”

Let’s compare the new style with the olde!

Marrino emphasized that despite OMB’s new look, the brewery is doubling down on what’s made it successful over the past fourteen years in Charlotte.

“Our goal was to create a look that better reflects the characteristics of our beer that we put so much effort into – a dedication to quality, freshness, approachability and consistency.”

Although the look on the shelf may be changing, OMB’s liquid is not. “OMB will always remain committed to enhancing the quality of life in our community, in our own small way, through our family-friendly Bierhalls and Gartens, and the quality beer that we’ve brewed right here since 2009. In short, we’re “Always OMB.”

In addition to the exciting brand refresh, OMB has teamed up with its distribution partners to offer its beer statewide in North Carolina for the first time ever. Starting this spring, OMB will be available across the state in cities such as Asheville, Greenville, Elizabeth City and Wilmington.

OMB’s refreshed logo and packaging will debut in the Charlotte region this month and roll out statewide with the geographic distribution expansion through the spring.
