Watch: Rogue Ales and Spirits deals with a wombat infestation at its Newport brewery

June 27, 2018Keith Gribbins

Wombats are adorable — like little fuzzy bears with teeny tiny legs. They are shy and attacks are rare, but while these native Australian marsupials look completely squeezable they will bite and scratch your legs right the hell off if spooked. The folks at Rogue Ales and Spirits were understandably concerned. Apparently, the Newport, Ore.-based brewery recently had some trouble with an infestation of a Wombat-type creature stealing and feeding on Australian hops and fruits and making friends with Brewmaster John Maier. We’re sure it has nothing to do with Combat Wombat, a hazy IPA fused with sour and fruit and a healthy dose of Australian hops. Now enjoy this!
