Leinenkugel says Miller Brewing has allowed it to reach a national audience

December 13, 2013Keith Gribbins

For the first time, Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co.’s famed Summer Shandy had national distribution in all 50 states in 2013. This pleases Jake and Dick Leinenkugel, fifth-generation brewers and business men behind the Leinenkugel Brewing Co. and its brands. The two admit they couldn’t have done it without parent company Miller Brewing Co. (and thus SABMiller and MillerCoors).

“Looking back over the last 25 years, has it been the right thing to do? No question,” says Jake Leinenkugel about selling the company. He goes on to cite a new brewhouse, improved quality and massive distribution as examples. Watch these two Leinenkugels talk about their foray into Big Beer in this excellent CNN Money interview, and then give us your thoughts below.
