Albuquerque’s Marble Brewery maximizes yeast yields, improves consistency and creates less waste with Aber’s PerfectPitch

September 24, 2019Keith Gribbins

Aber Instruments works at a cellular level in a variety of markets that range from biotech to biorenewables to beer. When it comes to the latter, Aber is an expert at designing and manufacturing products that manage yeast and control fermentation. Its Compact PerfectPitch is an ideal little portable skid to tool around a brewhouse, connecting to various yeast storage vessels and fermenters to monitor microbes.

The Compact PerfectPitch is a yeast pitching control module that incorporates an Aber Compact Adapt yeast monitor, a flow meter, pipework and mini-PLC. The adaptable Compact Adapt Yeast Monitor is ideal for measuring live yeast cell concentration in fermenters and propagators and can also be used in-line on the pipework. Combined, the Compact PerfectPitch helps achieve live yeast concentration targets consistently with great accuracy. Immediate impact on your brewery operations should include:

Increased profit

A significant improvement in the performance and consistency of the fermentations and a reduction in the fermentation times.

Better consistency

Better consistency can be achieved in a number of ways. Reducing the end of fermentation time by consistently achieving the correct target pitching rate. Reducing process variability and improving consistency with regards to the end of fermentation times to aid in the effective use of vessel time.

Less waste

Accurately measuring the live yeast cell concentration in real time helps protect brews from many potential off-flavors and hung fermentations. Utilizing the PerfectPitch allows for an improved and more consistent beer quality, satisfying old customers and winning over new ones.

Aber Instruments Perfectpitch yeast

John Heine, production manager, and John Carroll, head brewer at Albuquerque’s Marble Brewery, recently released a video with Aber Instruments, promoting the PerfectPitch. The duo discusses how the hardware maximizes yeast yields and brings consistency to its fermentation program. The team loves the real time flow rate and real time cell counting, but maybe most of all they love how super easy it is to use.

In America, Aber Instruments is sold by Gusmer Enterprises. Click here to learn more, and then click above to watch the video.
