World of Beer Craft: Check out Brooklyn Brewery’s second sister brewery in Norway

August 16, 2016Keith Gribbins

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but Brooklyn Brewery has been exploring northern Europe and creating “sister breweries” with its beer buddies at Carlsberg (which ranks as about the fifth largest brewery group in the world). In 2015, Brooklyn teamed up with Carlsberg to open Nya Carnegiebryggeriet (NCB) in Stockholm, Sweden. In April of this year, it announced that it was welcoming E.C. Dahls Brewery in Trondheim, Norway, into the Brooklyn Brewery Carlsberg family.

Founded in 1856, Dahls has been a treasured presence in Trondheim for generations, and its traditional pilsner is a household name there. While specific financial terms of the Norway project were not disclosed, last November Carlsberg announced it would invest more than $14 million in E.C. Dahls, building a new brewery, pub and restaurant in the existing Trondheim production facility. It looks absolutely gorgeous in the video above. Brewmaster Wolfgang Lindell in the video is a transplant from Montana who has been creating award-winning beers throughout Europe for several decades. Looks like an awesome place to work and visit.
