Flying Dog brewer Chris Lowe loses bet, subjects world to drunken reading of Poe’s “The Raven”

January 30, 2013Keith Gribbins

This is how Flying Dog Brewery describes brewer Chris Lowe: “[He] is known for many things here at the brewery. Among them are an insufferable Boston accent, an uncanny resemblance to Stiffler from American Pie and mad skills in the kitchen — especially when it involves beer.” Well apparently, the Boston-loving Lowe lost a bet with some Flying Dog compatriots over the holidays (the details are fuzzy, as you’ll see from this video). His punishment? A string of tasks to pay homage to Baltimore, apparently a city far superior to his native Boston. One of those punishments includes reciting Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven.” We quote the YouTube page: “At first horrified to even say the word, young Christopher took solace in a bit of research on Poe and proceeded to have a few beers.” You may also need a few beers to make it through this reading. Good luck.
