Jack Rose Dining Saloon to host several crazy events at the Craft Brewers Conference

March 22, 2013Chris Crowell

CBB Goes Washington Craft Brewers Conference
Heading to the Craft Brewers Conference in Washington, D.C.? Be sure to check out these events scheduled at the Jack Rose Dining Saloon.

More than 6,000 craft beer enthusiasts and industry professionals (and CBB editors!) will soon descend on Washington, D.C., for the Craft Brewers Conference and BrewExpo America (CBC), and a local craft brewing haven announced a host of events for thirsty attendees.

Equipped with 20 brand-new, 304 surgical-grade stainless steel draft lines which run from rooftop terrace to saloon bar, Jack Rose Dining Saloon and beer director Nahem Simon will be pouring some of the best beer in the city that week. From a Game of Thrones-inspired “Feast of the Iron Throne” beer dinner featuring Ommegang’s new brew collaboration with HBO, to a K Pop-themed “Gnomegangnam Style” beer party, and even an “Epic” 20-tap takeover from Utah’s Epic Brewing Co., it’s sure to be an epic four days at Jack Rose during the CBC.

Here is the saloon’s (love any place that has saloon in the title) schedule for the week:

Tuesday, March 26 — Flying Dog + Cigar Pairings

Starting at 7 p.m., Jack Rose will transform into a beer + cigar lounge, featuring pairings of Flying Dog brews with fine cigars from W. Curtis Draper Tobacconist. Flying Dog will take over two floors of Jack Rose’s new draft lines, with 10 specialty brews including Brewhouse Rarities and limited release beers including the new Bloodline Blood Orange IPA, as well as rare beers from other breweries.

Beer and cigar pairings will include:

  • The Oval Office — Gonzo Porter paired with Excalibur Prensado Oscuro Box Press

  • The Blue Dress — Raging Bitch paired with Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra

  • The Starr Report  — Bloodline Blood Orange IPA paired with Hoyo Reposado en Cedros

  • Zippergate — UnderDog Atlantic Lager paired with Hoyo de Tradicion

Wednesday, March 27 — Gnomegangnam Style Partyand Feast of the Iron Throne Dinner

Gnomegangnam Style: 5-10 p.m. on the Terrace.  Jack Rose is hosting a “Gnomegangnam Style” rooftop party from 5-10 p.m. Jack Rose will have $6 drafts of Gnomegang, a special seasonal release Belgian Strong Ale from Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, N.Y. There will also be dancing, prizes for best Psy costumes and Gangnam Style dancing.

Feast of the Iron Throne: 7:30-10 p.m. in the Saloon. Jack Rose is hosting a six-course feast showcasing Ommegang’s newest release with HBO, the show-inspired Iron Throne beer which is set to be publicly released in late March. The feast will also feature a variety of show-inspired eats like stews and meats-on-the-bone, each paired with a different unique Ommegang brew.

The six-course feast with beer pairing will be hosted in Jack Rose’s dining room and is available at $75 per ticket (plus tax and gratuity). There are only 35 tickets for sale at www.feastoftheironthrone.eventbrite.com.

Thursday March 28 — D.C. Craft Beer Tour

DC beer lovers are invited to join the owners of some of the country’s top breweries for a Craft Beer Tour of five to six of D.C.’s finest beer establishments.  From 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. in Jack Rose’s Balcony Room, guests can chat with the owners of 21st Amendment, Elysian, Uinta and more and taste rare specialty beers. The ticket also includes food specials and a gift bag with a specialty beer glass from Spiegelau. Tickets are available for $52 at www.dcbeertour.eventbrite.com.

Friday March 29 — EPIC Tap Takeover
