LA’s Three Weavers Brewing joins CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective

July 17, 2018Keith Gribbins

LA’s Three Weavers
Founder and CEO of Three Weavers Brewing, Lynne Weaver, shares a pint with Brewmaster Alexandra Nowell at the Three Weavers taproom in Inglewood.

Late last year, Oskar Blues Holdings rechristened itself as the CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective “to better reflect the goal of the collective — challenging corporate convention to preserve the craft beer category.” The company, which is majority owned by Fireman Capital Partners (a private equity firm), says it’s providing a platform for smaller craft breweries seeking high level resources and experience to expand and compete in the increasingly competitive craft beer segment. The collective gives these brands access to industry knowledge, increased brewing capabilities, greater packaging (cans) and ingredients opportunities and a wide distribution network to grow.

The collective continues to get bigger as well. Dallas’ Deep Ellum Brewing Co. joined the group in June, and just today it was announced that Three Weavers Brewing Co., one of the largest independent craft breweries in Los Angeles County, was forming a strategic partnership with CANarchy (terms of the partnership were not disclosed, so we’re not sure of the extent of it). Founder Lynne Weaver and Brewmaster Alexandra Nowell are the faces of the brewhouse (see photo above). To the press release!

“Our decision to join the CANarchy collective spans far beyond us as a single craft brewery. It’s about supporting our independence and continuing to champion the fight for all craft breweries with a similar goal. It’s also about living our mission — it’s more than beer, it’s community — and supporting the current craft crusade,” said Weaver, Three Weavers founder and CEO. “Now more than ever, it is vitally important for craft breweries to band together to preserve our collective livelihoods and legacies and grow the overall industry. By joining the CANarchy collective, Three Weavers will continue to support our community — the craft beer industry, fellow craft breweries, independent beer, and of course, local craft beer drinkers. We are truly excited to partner with the entire CANarchy Craft Brewery Collective and look forward to what we will accomplish together in the coming years.”

Right now, the CANarchy craft beer portfolio includes Oskar Blues Brewery, Perrin Brewing, Cigar City Brewing, Squatters Craft Beer and Wasatch Brewery and Deep Ellum Brewing. The collective, as you might have guessed from its name, claims to be the No. 1 provider of American craft beer in a can.

CANarchy now has some impressive regional footprints

With the addition of Three Weavers, the CANarchy portfolio expands its reach across the United States from East to West Coast with leading regional breweries in California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Texas and Utah. With so much activity, we’re definitely going to reach out to CANarchy to discuss its strategy. We’ll keep you updated.
