Watch Jamie Floyd, cofounder of Ninkasi Brewing, discuss the brand’s new Dark Horse comic (Legend of Ninkasi)

December 15, 2020Keith Gribbins

Ninkasi is a guardian goddess of beer in ancient Sumerian religious mythology, which automatically makes a great superhero premise. Just give that beer deity a flying triceratops and its own comic title from Dark Horse, and you have a perfect beer comic crossover. Ninkasi Brewing Co., named after said goddess of alcohol, is celebrating its 19.2-oz comic cans series (Megalodom, Tricerahops and Velocihopter) with the release of its first comic — Legend of Ninkasi: Rise of Craft!

Its written by Ninkasi Cofounder Jamie Floyd and Jim Gibbons and illustrated by Dark Horse Comics artist Eduardo Francisco (look at this guy’s amazing art). What’s the story? Well, it’s the journey of us all. It follows Goddess Ninkasi, Tricerahops, Jamie Floyd, Nikos Ridge and other characters in the pursuit of delicious craft beer. The coolest part: The comic’s free! Just surf right over here and sign up for Ninkasi’s newsletter.

Also: Join Floyd and writer Jim Gibbons on Dark Horse’s Twitch channel Tuesday, December 15 (that’s today!) at 5 p.m. PST for a live virtual panel. More details here: bit.ly/Ninkasi-DarkHorseComics-Twitch. Love these kind of collabs.
