Adelbert’s Brewery expanding distribution to California

March 7, 2014Keith Gribbins

Adelbert's Brewery
You can add The Traveler to this cadre of excellent Austin craft beer from Adelbert’s Brewery.

We dig Adelbert’s Brewery‘s M.O. Based in Austin, Texas, this brewhouse focuses on Belgian-style, bottle-conditioned ales for folks that seek and savor that rich Flemish flavor (unintentional rhyme, but still, damn fresh). How do these Longhorns make impressive Belgian-inspired brew? Well, Adelbert’s uses: Bohemian, old-world, floor malted barley; low alpha Noble Czech hops; fresh yeast propagated at the brewery; and a multi-temperature decoction mash technique. We’re sold, how about you, California?

Figure it out because Adelbert’s Brewery is taking its craft brewing philosophies and brands to California, while announcing the release of its newest beer, The Traveler (apropos, don’t you think?). The Traveler, a Belgian-style India Pale Ale (IPA), is a blend of four different hops resulting in a deep golden ale possessing an aromatic citrus, biscuity nose.

Timed in partnership with The Traveler release will be Adelbert’s first shipment to California. The brewery has partnered with Wine Warehouse, one of the largest distributors of alcoholic beverages in the United States, for statewide distribution. Along with The Traveler, the first California shipment will include Black Rhino, Philosophizer, Flyin’ Monks, Dancin’ Monks, Tripel B, Scratchin’ Hippo and Naked Nun. California joins Adelbert’s current distributions markets, which includes all over Texas, New Mexico, south Florida and downstate New York.

“We are thrilled to be adding the world class Belgian-style ales of Adelbert’s Brewery from Austin, Texas,” explained Kevin Day, beer manager of Wine Warehouse. “The quality of their beers is exceptional and we expect Adelbert’s will be a star in our portfolio.”

Adelbert’s Owner and Brewmaster Scott Hovey concluded: “In my former career in high tech, I spent a lot of time traveling to California and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It has been my dream since the day we started this brewery to share our ales with beer lovers all over. I’m overjoyed to expand into a market that not only holds fond memories for me, but is one of our country’s top beer meccas.”
