Deschutes Brewery descends upon Kentucky, Ohio

November 8, 2013Jason Morgan

Deschutes Brewery announced that its craft beers will be available in the states of Ohio and Kentucky starting on Jan. 24, 2014. The Oregon-based brewery will be working with Heidelberg Distributing Co.’s Rampant Brands Division, which focuses exclusively on the distribution, education and sale of craft beer. Rampant serves Ohio’s 88 counties as well as all retailers in the wet counties of Kentucky.

Deschutes Brewery Distribution Philadelphia anniversaryStacy Denbow, expansion manager for the brewery, said, “With 11 million future fans and more than 22,000 licensed retail accounts, we knew moving into Ohio would be a huge undertaking. Partnership with an expert company like Heidelberg’s Rampant Division gave us a great opportunity to launch in Ohio, as well as extending into the great Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

To support the new distribution launch, Deschutes Brewery will be traveling to cities around Ohio and in the Louisville area of Kentucky for special tastings and other events from Jan. 24-Feb. 6.

Initially, Deschutes Brewery will be offering Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte Porter, the nation’s number one selling craft porter, Inversion IPA, and its spring seasonal Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale. The beers will be available in six-packs and draft. Earlier this year, Deschutes Brewery completed an expansion at its main facility in Bend, Ore., with a total of 10 new 1,300 barrel (bbl) fermentation tanks. When all the new tanks are utilized, the brewery will have the capacity to brew more than 460,000 bbls annually to fill demand in its expanding distribution footprint.
